COSHH write for us – COSHH is the complete form for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health. Refers to a regulation introduced to defend workers and others from hazardous substances in the place of work. The COSHH Regulation

Under COSHH regulations, employers must prevent or reduce worker exposure to hazardous substances. This also applies to the self-employed, where dangerous substances could harm others.

To comply with COSHH regulations, employers must:

Do not use prohibited substances unless necessary for specific purposes.
Assess the risks of hazardous substances to employees and others before work. This is called a COSHH assessment.
Observe necessary precautions and avoid exposure if possible. Suppose prevention is impossible; control direction by applying the principles of good control practice.
Ensure control measures are used, maintained, tested, and reviewed.
Control exposure where hazardous substances are used.
Monitor the health of people at risk of exposure.
Provide training, information, instruction, and management to those who will get in touch with hazardous substances.
Have provisions to deal with accidents, incidents, and emergencies involving hazardous substances.

COSHH standards apply in Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland). In Northern Ireland, the regulation is the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2003.

The COSHH Approved Code of Practices (ACOP) guides how rights holders can comply with the requirements of the COSHH Regulations. Since the ACOPs are legal series documents, the bondholders must comply with them unless they can provide proof that they have met the COSHH requirements in some other way. It is always advisable to go after the ACOP.
