Kidney Problems
A lack of water due to severe gastrointestinal consequences, such as vomiting and diarrhea, can cause acute kidney injury. This happens when the kidneys receive insufficient blood flow. They can start to shut down in as little as a day or two if you’re dehydrated.
Severe Allergic Reactions
While uncommon, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis can take place. They can result in symptoms like a rash, itchiness, and swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat).
